about Tim Christ
Drawing upon 40 years in the design and construction world, Tim Christ has developed a unique approach to his work as advisor and consultant to a select community of established and emerging firms. His career experience includes breakthrough advisory for the owners and founders of notable, internationally-recognized firms, beginning with award-winning architects Will Bruder and Thom Mayne, his early mentors. In these roles, Tim cultivated a comprehensive understanding of the operational and commercial realities of contemporary practices focused on design excellence. These skills were further refined during his tenure with Diller Scofidio + Renfro, helping guide their studio during a pivotal era of growth and the expansion of the firm’s work into large institutional projects nationally and beyond. The firms Tim advised have grown many times in size and billings, commanding better fees and earning wider recognition.
During the eight years Tim spent with Buro Happold, he contributed to a truly global, large-scale practice providing the highest-level engineering and consulting services to a deep bench of clients, private and public. There, Tim led a growing U.S. team focused on growth, strategic planning, and operational excellence, helping the business to double its annual revenue, open several new offices, and move decisively into new markets through organic growth and strategic acquisitions. Later, as the managing director for Bjarke Ingels Group’s office in the United States, Tim led initiatives to continually improve the firm’s commercial environment, client relationships, and studio operations.
Today, Clough + Advisory works with a select community of established and emerging firms, including award-winning architecture and AEC practices in the United States and Europe.
Prior to beginning his design studies at Yale University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Tim worked as a cabinetmaker and finish carpenter across the United States. He credits those early years spent in woodshops and on jobsites as having a profound impact on his understanding of the power of craft, detailing, and excellence in construction.
