Meet Tim

Drawing upon 40 years in the design and construction world, Tim has developed a unique approach to his work as advisor and consultant to a select community of established and emerging firms.  Prior to beginning his design studies in graduate school, Tim worked as a cabinetmaker and finish carpenter across the US, and these early years spent in woodshops and on jobsites had a profound impact on his understanding of the power of craft, detailing, and excellence in construction.  With Will Bruder and Thom Mayne as early mentors, Tim developed a comprehensive understanding of the operational and commercial realities of contemporary practice.  These skills were further refined during his tenure with Diller Scofidio + Renfro during a pivotal era of growth and expansion of the firm’s work into large institutional projects in New York and beyond.  During the eight years he spent with Buro Happold, Tim was exposed to a truly global practice operating across the world providing the highest-level engineering and consulting services to a deep bench of clients, private and public.  He led a small US team focused on growth, strategic planning, and operational excellence, helping the business to double the annual revenue, open new offices, and move decisively into new markets.  As the managing director for Bjarke Ingels Group’s office in the US, Tim led initiatives to improve the commercial environment, client relationships, and operations of the firm.
